a bug out car needs armor plating, not to the extreme of a Bradly but you want your z-71 to at least be able to push an escort out of the way without personal damage, so besides a push bar on the front what could be some discrete safety measures?

before using flack jackets check the box o truth because they only work when backed up by a body or something that acts like a body!! Armor plating will add alot of weight and make the vehicle handle weird so you may need to beef up the suspension and install tires with a higher load rating. Also when on the topic of tires you can get them filled with gell so if you run over something sharp or someone shoots them they will not go flat!!
Why not just cover yourself with some sort of blanket made of an anti balistic material? Huummmmmmmm ........ a bullet proof blanket?
The weight might be an issue.
