Summer’s coming so here’s a timely question. Your wife asks you to make a quick run to the store. You stuff your BUG in the left front pocket of your shorts and leave your primary in the safe. (You know you do it.) You’ll never be able to draw it from your pocket while sitting. The question is where does the BUG go while you’re driving and why?

I actually do just this sometimes; either the P3AT or the PF-9 get chosen because of their small size.

Generally, the pistol goes in my hip pocket and my shirttail is not tucked in--that covers it.

In the pickup, I just sit on it or take it out of my pocket and place it in the pocket of the door.

I do have a DeSantis pocket holster, the P3AT is so small it just squirms around in the pocket without it.
The clip on it is useless and I should probably take it off. I'll not buy the clip for the 9mm.

A lot of times I put it under my leg while driving . The P32 is small enough that it is not noticable and if I get pulled over I slip it in the glove box when I get out the registration.

Just some food for thought. I wear shorts with a belt and a t-shirt, over this I have a very light button down shirt I leave open. This does not add much in the way of heat. I carry the same guns in the same place that I do in the winter in the same paddle holsters. They are covered with the light dress shirt. Most of the time this would be my full size XD9.

get an extra holster, some 1 or 1.5 inch nylon webbing and run the webbing between the back rest and seat. It sits just a little past where you would normally reach for a crossdraw. Easy to access and hard to see. Somebody sells these, but it's just as easy to with extra parts. If your like me you have at least 2 different holsters anyway. You can just transfer the weapon between holsters if you need it when you exit the vehicle.
Or just use the door pocket. What about the 'map pocket' behind your passenger seat? Lots of vehicles have those.

Accessing my weapon while seated is like accessing my wallet while seated... difficult but possible. With a little pelvic adjustment, reaching, and effort, I am able to draw my weapon, but it's not easy. In fact, I often just take my pocket holster (with my KT P-32) to place it in my center console before I get in, and I put it back in my packet when I get out. Easy fix.

Actually, this situation is really common for me. I take a quick trip to the store at the drop of a hat and usually only grab my keys, wallet, and pocket holster (with a P-32, there's no reason not to carry Smile ) Y'wanna know a really sticky situation, trying to draw from a Smartcarry while sitting... that's not really too comfortable or quick, so being in Condition 1 and aware of your surroundings is important.

Velcro a holster to the dash. I did this to the wife's Honda and she didn't notice the velcro tab for a couple of weeks. She moves her gun from purse to dash now.

I cut half the bottom out of the cup holder in my main truck and it holds the .45 fine and still keeps the coffee cup from falling through.
