Ammo availability where you are?

Postby z28driver on Sat May 30, 2009 1:40 am

I am posting this question here because I see the primary purpose of ammo as being for home defense. That being said, what is the situation regarding ammo availability where you are located. Here in Phoenix, it is very hard to get ammo. Only calibers you find readily available is .25 auto, 10 MM, .357 SIG, etc. stuff not too commonly used. Just curious what the situation is in other parts of the country.

Thanks!

It's tough to find here in PA also but can be found with some searching and some luck.
I'm in conservation mode with my ammo right now, only shooting 25 rounds at a time.

That is smart, people out here are conserving as well. The ranges have been noticeably less busy these past few months. Folks don't know if or when they will be able to replace what they shoot on the weekends.

Just when I get my Cenier conversion kit for my M4gery: cannot find but 1000 of .22lr to save my [hiney]. I lucked out on a bunch of Reloaded .45 ACP, and privately been able to buy AK and .223 (albeit expensive). Walmart and Sportsmans have been total duds for ammo.

But I been noticing locally, that ammo seems to have peaked, price wise....I am giving it another week or two.

I hear it's going up again next month.

Well, its obvious that the prices for ammo is never gonna go down (like gas prices) again, but, the availability of the most common calibers (9mm, .38, .40, .45) are starting to show up at our local department stores (Academy, Wal-Mart, etc).

UMC has some package deals that aren't too bad (9mm/250 rds@$60.00; .45/250 rds@$98.00), available at Academy (Sunday mornings the best time to buy).

There are, however, too many gunshops that are profiteering... I'll remember to not buy from those guys for my future gun purchases...
