To all our recent new members-Tell us a bit about yourselves.

Whatever you feel like telling, location, training and experience, why you're here, any special knowledge that you might have and care to share.

These are things that will help us grow as a community and enrichen the skills of all.

ok, I`m Jim, I live in central Texas. ok I`m not like most of you, I`m in a wheel chair, have been for about 6 years. I was a paint and body man for 25 or so years. I have worked in a boiler factory and as a mechanic when I was younger. dont feel sorry for me, I still do a lot of things. but some of the things I dont get to do any more does bother me.
I lost my wife ( years ago to a long term illness. we had been married for 25 years. I have been blind ( but eye surgery fixed that ). I still work on cars for fun. My son and I have been working on a Bradley GT II for about 2 years and it is getting about ready for him to drive it. we took it down to the nuts and bolts and started back up.
I have guns and love to shoot, used to hunt all the time and was good at it too. fishing was a passion of mine too. I hand make knives and rings.
so there is a little about me

I'm from the northern Midwest USA. I'm interested in all types of survival that might apply to my location and terrain, and that could include an urban environment, so I'm very happy to have found this forum. :) I am not terribly mechanically inclined, though I do my best to learn whatever I can.

I'm also not really a gun "nut" but I can appreciate firearms as tools to ensure our liberty and further our survival. I currently own a Savage .22 and intend to pick up the Hi-Point 9mm Comp in the fairly near future, and both a shotgun and hunting rifle eventually.

I enjoy plenty of other activities lightly related to survival including fishing, camping and the like; I'm an Eagle Scout but never served in the military.

Hi Jim and thanks for sharing.
You won't receive pity for the wheel chair so no concerns there, 2 of my friends are in chairs and one of them hunts, fishes and works as a mechanic, the other one is female and into shopping and babysitting

Maybe you can add some pics of your Bradley project to the lounge.

Welcome.

Welcome Evolve
I was in the military but not an Eagle Scout so I'm certain you'll have some knowledge to share. CAmping is a blast but I don't fish much, only when my wife wants to go.
If you're considering the C9 then you might wish to visit our sister site the Hi-Point Firearms Forum, I beleive it is listed under other websites and if not then just ask for the link.

I'm living in central Alabama now but spent 35 years in the New Orleans area, relatives still live there, Katrina was a wake up call of massive proportions for me and mine, anyone thats depending on the Govt. Fed or local to save their butts better wake up, it won't happen. My nephew is with the La. wildlife [game warden] they were the only ones who had any ammo those first few days, the guard did not ???. Thats all history now, but man did it get me thinking, I will never get caught in that situation again. I'm a retired aero-space tool maker and shoot with my son, we're both dedicated squirrel hunters, his a Ruger 10/22, mines a model 60 Marlin. on the home-boy range I shoot a .38 Rossi he shoots his H/P .45 I was finally able to get a H/P 995 on order, call them cheap if you want to, but during Katrina they would be worth their weight in gold. I'm a old Army vet. that hopes we never have another major disaster in are country, but I'm not betting on it.

My name is Jimmy and I am also in a wheel chair. Im 57 years old and before my disability I worked as a modification mechanic for Boeing military aircraft in Wichita Kansas. Born and raised there and when I turned 50 I moved here north west Wisconsin. I love to hunt and will go fishing if I have to (when the wife wants to go) I like to do metal sculpting, wood working. Im glad to be here! Jimmy

Hi Jimmy

I thought the post was funny, especially the fishing part lol.
My wife loves fishing and eating fish and I'm in the same boat as you there.

Hmm, Maybe if I made her gut and clean her own fish...

Im telling you its horrible!!! I used to love to fish but my wife is a die hard. Most folks fish only 2 to3 hours and go home, not my wife she fishes from early dawn to midnight or later and thats everytime we go out!!!! I would make my wife clean her own fish but I dont dare trust her with a sharp knife. She cuts herself everytime she picks up a sharp instrument. I thought Id be smart and say ok you bait your own hook and remove your own fish and now she does. She would clean them but I dont want to make a run to the emergency room so I do it. I do the cooking also  Jimmy

Wow Jimmy
We and our wives must be related.
My wife also cannot be trusted with sharp objects and has the fishing bug, baits her own, etc.
Oh and I do the cooking, all of the cooking matter of fact.

(I was going to buy her a cookbook for Christmas one time but decided to start w something simpler, Dick and Janes intro to kitchens. See Jane, see Jane walk to the big square thing in the kithen, so on and so on...)
